This system has been running for several weeks 24/7. The Windows 11 system I have has 128GB, but right now with only a few apps running it shows 113GB available. It runs for months at a time without consuming additional memory. I have a Windows 10 Pro system with 32GB with 8 HD camera feeds and home automation. Rather than looking at Task Manager, go into the Resource Monitor, click the memory tab and sort descending on the Working Set (KB) column. If this were endemic to the OS itself, you can imagine everyone would be complaining about it. I've been running Windows 10 and 11 since each was released, and my Windows 11 machine runs for weeks being rebooted only for Windows updates. It could be drivers or other software in common between your Windows 10 and 11 install. ![]() It is not releasing memory after allocation. If you start out small and more and more RAM is consumed over time, there is software running that has a memory leak. Looking back at your screenshot from earlier, it also shows 20GB cached, while this shouldn't matter because you also have 20GB free.ĭo you use screensavers? You've also said this does it with a clean OS, If true what you're saying is you installed an OS, left it powered on for 3-4 days and it used 100% ram. You've not shown a screenshot of this so far, so we can only take your word for it. Temporary fix to a less than temporary problem. At that point, the only resolution is to reboot it. I also note you have an AMD which you mentioned at the start, Windows 11 had some serious issues with AMD at the start, be sure you're running the latest build and please go to AMD.com and download the latest drivers, Windows will not do this for you, but you need it. ![]() Is your RAM configured for XPM, if so disable it. What version of Windows (home, pro, enterprise etc) and where did you get it (or the version you upgraded from, since the issues were present there too), if you have the same issues with nothing installed, I'd be looking at your media first. While it shouldn't do that, something is causing it and if it does this for you on a clean build without plex, what settings do you change on a default install? AV? Third party apps installed? Other browsers outside the defaults? I am curious though, you said it uses all the ram, but haven't said if this actually causes you an issue or if this is more of a 'why?' question, if it's the latter and it's not actually causing you an issue, is it an issue? Windows uses pre-fetch cache, so this could be in use, any DBs you have installed, including any plex uses for indexing could be chewing up ram - that's what DBs do, but they may not show it in the task manager view. It doesn't show any of the screenshots I wanted to look at.
